How do I delete a category that I created?

You can only delete transaction subcategories that you've created. Currently, you can't delete the transaction categories provided by Mint.

Select your Mint experience and follow the instructions.

  1. Open the Mint app and scroll down to Recent Transactions
  2. Select any transaction
  3. Select Category
  4. Find the subcategory you'd like to delete. Select the pencil icon next to it
  5. Select Delete
  6. Select Delete again
  1. Sign in to mint.com
  2. Select Transactions
  3. Select the gear icon above your list of transactions, then Manage categories
  4. Select the main category for the subcategory you want to delete
  5. You'll see all the categories you've created under the list Your subcategories
  6. Select the trash can icon next to the subcategory you want to delete
  7. Select Delete

Transactions tagged with the deleted subcategory will be automatically reassigned to the parent category.

If you had a budget for this category, it’ll be deleted.
